Getting Ready for the 2020 NCTWC Survey!

Pre-Survey webinar recordings (February 11 and 12, 2019) are available for State/District Leaders and School Representatives to learn more about this year's survey initiative.

The State Board of Education’s Fall Planning and Work Session (November 5, 2019) included a presentation "Teacher Working Conditions –The Connection to Ingersoll’s Research Findings-Next Steps"  by Dr. Cynthia Martin, Director of District & Regional Support, NC DPI and Ann Maddock, CEO, Center for Optimal Learning Environments. The theme of this retreat is Opportunity and Access with a Call to Action. This presentation is tied to the State Board's Strategic Plan.

Dr. Martin shared plans for the 2020 North Carolina Teacher Working Conditions Survey. Ann Maddock shared key findings from Dr. Richard Ingersoll's  (The Consortium for Policy Research in Education at the University of Pennsylvania) research on teaching conditions. Ingersoll's report revealed students in schools with higher levels of instructional leadership and teacher decision-making perform at least 10 percentage points higher in both mathematics and English language arts proficiency on their state assessments. On November 20, 2019 NCDPI hosted a seminar for regional case managers.
